I know, and as I said further up the thread, I doubt I'll bother doing anything about it ...

Fancy a wager?

All I might do is confirm I can get access to the crank, and if I can, try opening and closing it to apply some lubrication. If that doesn't sort it, I'll call it a day.

Took the car to have the LPG system checked today. It had been safely disconnected - the line from the vapouriser had been removed - and the LPG tank is empty, so shouldn't be impacting on the car's performance at all.

The bloke pointed out that single point injection systems like the one fitted are not suited to the Merc's (Bosch?) fuel injection system and that the car would have had idling problems. He did not recommend resurrecting it, the only alternative being a new system at, to me anyway, an uneconomical cost.

He's quoted two hours (c.£100) to remove the tank so I'm pondering whether the recovered boot space is worth that.

I also swapped the old head unit for my Blaupunkt Woodstock, so all's well on the ICE front ...

Nice appropriate ICE.

You could try fitting a sub woofer to the LPG tank. 50 litres is a fair old resonant chamber
