Bikes and the S

When you are a regular biker you are all the more appreciative of preceived good driving, which can include all of proper indicating, distancing, lane discipline and other 'boring things' as well as controlled spirited driving where skills are shown. That isn't because bikers are automatically better at road craft (lord knows plenty are unskilled buffoons) but because as a more vulnerable road user you knowingly benefit from good, predictable car drivers.
Personally, I always acknowledge car drivers who move over to allow me to filter or who don't drive obstructively - I think it encourages such behaviour and is unusual enough to merit a wave or thumbs up.

I have noticed over the last year that there seems more awareness in general of bikes on the part of car drivers.
For example, more drivers pull over to let you past and I always acknowledge them.
The UK is still someway behind, say, France in driver behaviour towards bikes but any improvement is to be welcomed and I only wish that more bikers acknowledged helpful and considerate car drivers.
France's attitude towards bikes (pushbikes anyway) is superb. I recendly did 1 week an nearly 300kms on a pushbike and they reall do move out the way for you. Plus they don't drive like loons on their nice country roads (which is a shame!)
Back to proper bikes though, it's always nice to get a wave or shake of the leg in recognition from a biker.

I'll tell you what annoys me about some bikers (amongst other things)
they clearly have the acceleration to outpace most things - certainly my M5
so why, when I've hardly held you up, do you tailgate me, get past and then sit there bottling it at XXX mph?
fine, you want to go past - if you are going to make such a song and dance about it - I expect you to feck off into the distance (ditto cars)
not hold ME up now that the acceleration contest is over and the balls contest has started (ditto cars)

News for you mate... people can be selfish buggers.
Most of my motorway driving is plagued by it.
The drive 10+ mph faster than me, pull into the inside lane - then drive 10 mph slower than me. It's comical.
I used to get wound up by it - Now I shrug it off.

Most of the time where I can I have cruise control on, many times people come whizzing past (or worse slow down alongside for no good reason) and then pull into the middle lane and slow down, so you have to overtake...
Then they look at you like you're the stupid one...
As you said, it happens so often now I just deal with it and carry on...
I could try going up up to my target speed before moving out of the way - doesn't take that long
and see if that makes any difference
gets the message across, etc
must emphasise, not all bikers do this - most will do the right thing and scoot off

Just buy an S, drop the top - and when they coming hooning alongside - have a big yawn and stretch your arms ( vigourously)
On the country roads - I find most bikers are great.
The ones I mainly encouter on the M4 are just ... well not so great.
