BMW M2
Can I just ask, but what do you have against new build homes?
I have one, and I love it. For my particular circumstances at the time, it was the best option and I don't regret my decision to buy one at all.
I moved out of a similar sized 'older' property which I rented, it recently sold for a little under what I paid for mine. Given the choice, I'd have the one I'm in any day of the week.
Naive question perhaps, but I've seen you mention this before and I'm a little curious knowing your background from the architect thread.

The icing on the cake is a recession white TDi on the drive (space in front of the house).
It sort of reminds me of the Stepford Wives.
I get that. I have the only detached house of my type on my plot, not to mention the estate. Plus I'm live alone/single, everyone else has kids etc. My developer only had a small area compared to some of the others developers here. In 5-10 years I'll move to somewhere with a bit more character but for now it's more than enough. I used to hate new builds, but now having lived in one I can see their appeal. I find your view a little harsh and broad, as not every new build is the same.

Isn't that what stone cladding - or leaded uPVC windows - is for?
A bit like one of those 'Special Edition' cars that some mfr.s launch every 15 seconds. The Citroen C3PO Avec du Pens, or 911 GT7 RS4 Verona or somesuch?
The Barbican estate or the homes Eric Lyons designed for Span homes, come to mind; modernist/brutalist style. Or an estate with identical Frank Lloyd Wright houses would do nicely too.
How we got to the point where you can't overtake without a gazillion bhp, (not to mention you will die if you venture out in the winter months without winter tyres) I don't know.
My MX-5 is only a 1.6 but perfectly capable of executing overtaking manoeuvres.
