I refer only to a certain type of modern estate and home. They are springing up everywhere. I am not referring to the sort of new build which is typified by a self-build project. I am also completely sympathetic to the argument that character often brings considerable hassle, although new builds are not immune from that. But overall. it's the whole package - new estate house, TDi, etc.

I can't bear the idea of living in a property that looks like every other property on the state - or one of four types.
I used to think like that, but I don't care any more about homogenous exterior homes - so long as a type they have design integrity, are built to a standard, not down to a price, and are functional for my requirements; analogous with driving a Fiat Multipla!

The Barbican estate or the homes Eric Lyons designed for Span homes, come to mind; modernist/brutalist style. Or an estate with identical Frank Lloyd Wright houses would do nicely too.
Flats are different. I much prefer purpose built to converted flats and the exterior is largely irrelevant to me. I'm sure I'll live in one en route to the nursing home.

I find that some new builds are all a bit clumped together to save space. And some can also be rather boxy, if not small inside. And lack driveway space.
There's always room for a shiny white Golf GTD though, just for when Google pass by for Street View And to piss Gad off.

We don't live in a new build, but we considered it. Our preference is an old tardis Victorian terrace. One fetched £115k nearby recently, almost 2,000 sq ft of space spread over 3 floors plus garage round the back. It was just the wrong time as we had remortgaged. The only downside - we would have had to pay higher fees to grab it. But what a bargain.

Living down south has it's major disadvantages - property prices are borderline stupid. I lived in Kent for several years realizing you get more for your money back in the North - relatively of course, earnings as we know are spiked in London and surrounding.
Living 'ap Norf means a 4 bed detached from £130k upwards (no disrespect here - NOT in Jeremy Kyle Avenue). Its amusing that there's a southern sect that joke about Notherners living in areas like Corrie Street, and its seriously grim etc. Tunbridge Wells has its grotty areas, as does every town!

BMW M2 - in Wigan, this is a car that would be the trophy outside the new estate build. Meh!

There is something about the repetition that does it.

I recently looked at a design for a stunningly minimalistic zero-carbon bollocks house; it was a very well-considered design and architecturally.

But then you stick a load of them in a row and it looks just like Harlow.

It's so much easier if you are just building one in a plot.

The M63 would be a bastad hybrid of a c63 and an M5

Or an M2 if you had a shoehorn

I see the new Alfa has beat a leggy lambo round the 'ring. Its also pretty. No doubt it'll never exist or if it does it'll fall to bits
