BMW paint
Its got a full BMW main dealer service history so I'd hope any bodywork repairs were done by a proper bodyshop!
Cheers for the info Lower, I'll have a phone around. Hopefully if I can track down who did it they'll do it again. I don't fancy the bill for a bumper respray.

I don't know what service history has to do with getting bodywork repaired?
My LEX leased BMW has a full BMW Franchised dealer service history, but repairs would be down to my insurance company to sort out.
Ditto my Mercedes.
Not likely you will be able to find the culprit and claim anything back IME.
I could have anyone paint my cars and the reseller would have no idea whatsoever.
A repaint would be around £300

Well it was a lease hire company car. So my theory is that any repairs, mechanical or bodywork, were done through a service plan and so little expense was spared regarding its maintenance. Maybe I'm thinking hopeful but we'll see!
Lease companies may provide a comprehensive maintenance package, but they don't cover insurance and body damage repairs.
Someone still has to insure it, maybe the V5 holder (private lease) or the company leasing it for an employee (Company car lease).
And they decide who does the repairs. In fact if I bent mine I could just get it botched up, so long as its unseen at handover next month.
The only requirement is it meets the 'off-hire' assessment criteria when they pick it up at the end of the term.
If buying, I would be inclined to go for the big mile 2-3yr old cars with a lot of stone chips to be honest.
My last two would be excellent value, 95% of service life at <2k rpm and 70mph cruising all day.
So, the 80k on my BMW means nothing - serviced on the dot as it cost me nothing to keep it tip-top.
But it may have hidden damage, or be full of filler. The hirer probably would never know....and wont care so long as it look right.
HTH

(I have two company cars, one expensed and one private leased)
Either way, i suspect you will have no direct come back on whoever did the paintwork.
Who did you buy the car from? I would have thought that would be your route to recompense if the car is a recent purchase.
If its just the paint shown in your photo, the repair cost should be in the region of £200-300.
I bought it from a pro golfer in Cheltenham. He had it for around 9 months I think, but found the M sport suspension too hard for his back. Good job he didn't get an S2000!
The problem area is pretty much just the curved section of the bumper, most severe nearest the wheel.

Tracing whoever did the work and getting them to redo it FOC is unrealistic IMO.
