Default BMW pulling out of F1

Now this is a big team with huge funding so a slight surprise but then again what have the done recently

Kubica and Heidfeld have shown great promise but once again (same old story) the driver doesn't have the car to perfom

No suprise really, given the dismal results of late. But I thought all the FOTA teams were supposed to have committed to 3 years at least?

I wonder if it'll go back to being Sauber.

They've taken their ball home because they can't win anymore.

I guess F1 isn't as profitable as it used to be?

Who cares. They achieved a single win as a constructor and I seem to remember them lucking into it.

So long as the team gets bought, F1 has lost nothing.

Good! They are cack

Win in championship in three years. How typically arrogant Did they not see how much money both Honda and Toyota pumped in, and how close neither of those teams came to winning it.

Not really an issue any more, as the FIA have teams tripping over themselves to join the F1 circus.

I'm not convinced he will be, he loves F1 too much.

But I suspect his employees are!

really or was that sarcasm?

Mad thing is BMW pumped all that money in to Rover, Mini and Land Rover and then suddenly wanted out. Admittedly Rover was in a bad way, but I honestly think the brand was on the way up with the 75, the new Range Rover was in final development with the Discovery not far behind.

Oh well they've made their decision and I am sure their F1 costs / budget will soon be re-assigned to another new niche model in the brand portfolio

That's by no means certain from what I have read. The statement that I read said that the future of the BMW Motorsport staff at Munich and Ninwil (Sauber's old HQ) was as yet undecided.

PArt of the clue may in the the fact that BMW retained the Sauber name in the official team title...

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but they may be doing some sort of deal to leave Sauber with an entry...
