Bloody hell Si, that is some bargain. You could run it for a long while and still not lose out!

Would be worth checking if its had the normal oil seal replacement after some oil blows out through the seal. You would not necessarily even see oil dropped on the ground either. It would just leave a bit of a mess in the engine bay.

Even my 2007 Cayman S had this done after 1 year, but no issues since regarding the seal.

Sport designs are nice but a pain to keep clean

Sounds like a very good deal otherwise. I know you get running cost down quite a bit by using an independant for servicing. Is it worth taking to a Porsche dealership to get their 111 point check done that they do as a requirement for warrenty extension. Around £180. They are pretty anal about the car meeting certain minumum requirements for warrenty extension so could be worth the cost before you hand over 60 times that sort of sum Just a thought.

Otherwise good luck and enjoy

Edit:
Just checked Autotrader and that is a good few 1k's saving

Coil packs, brakes.

I have to do the brakes on a 2005 Boxster S in the next couple of weeks. Bloke has priced up the full set for £550.

Coil packs crack due to the heat. If it hasn't had a set, it is likely to need a set and that'll cost you £500.

Right.. test driven..

lovely

looks like this one (but with coloured crests on the wheels - which are a £100 cost option!) http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2000203.htm

excellent nick.. even the alloys are immaculate.. and it drives beautifully..

serviced every six months (since he bought it in 2007 with 6k miles) by http://www.jmgarage.com/service/Service-987.htm on their signature servicing and last service was the 40k one. These guys get very good reviews on the 911 forums..

I'm going to ring them tomorrow and talk to them about it hoping they'll have some records and i think i'll do the 111 point check (maybe even the OPC one )

bad points..

front brakes are really scored but with lots of life in them so hopefully just resurfacing and pads.. Tyres are all about half worn

AM have offered him £11.5k now so it's going to cost me £12.5k (or £12k if i push him really hard but i do need top make it worth his while not going the easy way of a trade in!)

Still a bargain i think..

I just need to wait for him to do a deal on a black Vantage!

Keep in touch with your colleague and you could find yourself picking up a bargain Aston in a few years!!!! Just shows it's not what you know but who you know.

Ignore the juvenile silly inevitable cliche 'hairdressers' jokes & other peoples opinions as to the look of the Boxster, just do your thing not theirs and enjoy.

Rip his f ucking arm off at the ankles!

The RMS is a stupid PIA, but in fact it's only incurable in a very small percentage of vehicles, it seems. The Germans can't do coil packs; one on those things.

Sounds like a nice car. Porsche crests on 19" wheels FFS!

Let us know how you get on!

The wheels alone are worth 1.5K with good rubber.

The mid engine layout is lovely.

Enjoy it!
