We were inferring 'money laundering'; if a car dealer gets offered more than ten large in folding, he must report it to the meanies.

So if you've robbed a bank/the tax collector, you have to trade up little but often!
Or else he issues 6 receipts of 10 large.

Job done.

IIRC we had to apply for licence to allow us to do transactions of 9k or greater in cash, the police didn't have to be informed but we did as a matter of course over this amount, they weren't interested. Maybe Scottish law is different?, punters often said they would pay cash but actually meant that they weren't taking a loan and paid by switch, easier than a large wad of folding in your pocket.
The Honda dealer I worked at wouldn't take cash over 1k , it was too much bother to deal with, bank charges, insurance cover etc ate into the profit margin too much.

No - even the Europrats thought of that one; it's ten large per transaction. Since car dealers keep a stock book, it's hard to chop an Aston into six cygnets.

I'm sure you knew what i meant when i said cash..

I meant debit card or cheque etc rather than taking any finance..

I'm just trying to imagine my Operations Director walking into an Aston dealer with a briefcase with 60 large in twenties in it!!

TBF, I cannot think of a better term for it.

I'd tend to distinguish between cash & credit (ie savings & finance) or folding & cash (M1 cash & bank).

Or some other vernacular.

I once walked into a bank with a holdall stuffed with notes/coins & the silly cow behind the counter nearly shat herself. It wasn't like I had a stocking over my head or anything.
