Also those big michelin ps2 tyres are like a grand for a set of 4 and I bet they don't last long given its weight.

 

coupled with the facts that it isn't that fast

isn't that great to drive

and is expensive to fix

means that it is hopelessly overpriced

 

but theres nothing else like it on the road, if you want to be different then you have to pay the price and make these sacrifices

main thing is though it looks bloody good

 

that is not the main thing to most petrolheads

 

i'd say it's well up the list

saying that I wouldn't expect a petrolhead to buy one either

But they all have fairly obvious downsides:

M-cars - servicing/warranty, standard 2 and 4 door cars are not to everyoe's taste
Boxsters - among the most accomplished acars on the market, but common as muck, and no real sex appeal
TVR's - great performance, horrendous running costs
Alfa - all FWD and none are special in the handling department
Integrale's - not fast any more, fragile, good ones are rare
Foci/Impreza's - common, chav, "me too"

It's actually very hard to find a distinctive sports car that's actually any good and won't cost a fortune to run. As I'm sure you'll agree.

I do agree

I simply think the Clio is nowhere near good enough to justify its current price

Its distinctive looks are also its Achilles heel

I cant comment on how fast it is as I have never driven one.

Going by that Top Gear video it looks to stick like glue, and it did that wet lap in nearly the same time as an Aston and an Elise.

Surely its no slouch with 255 bhp.

I take the point on bits falling off it, but its true that one of its big plus point is definately its looks and engine.
