I'd have thought when it comes down to it ... application of power is more of an issue than power itself - the Civic is FWD not AWD and even if you factor in drive train losses - the EVO is still going to launch better and go better.

Civic is ( 200bhpish) 6.5 seconds to 60 as standard and the M20 has what over the standard car?

Evo's are fecking quick, i know that for sure - i wouldnt attempt to take one in the wet or up a hill .

I kept up with one 'just' by the skin of my teeth last year but that was when my car was with 2 psi less than I am now.

For me, i just couldn't justify that amount of money for that particular Mugen car when there are lots of other more interesting cars out there for the same money (or there abouts), however it seems you want something special and that's what you pay the money for, dare i say a little exclusivity.

In all honesty i think the mugen CTR looks pretty smart, but when you mention the amount over a standard CTR!, obviously it will cost more but when we're talking almost double.

What i will say is are far as performance parts car, Mugen may generally be good quality but there's just as good quality parts out there by other manufacturers that even out perform Mugen parts ?(e.g the mugen manifold for the S etc).

I really cant see Mugen doing a turbo CTR, its not what Honda do nor is it economically viable for honda nowadays.

For me the only proper type R's were the old Civic Type R (EK9), the DC2 and possibly a DC5.

Newer type R's are poor IMO.

IMO the type R era has had its day, there are more economical, faster and more fuel efficient cars out there. Are they are much fun well that's debatable.
I think you should drive an ATR and NSX-R
Brother in law had a W reg one, but never drove it, doubt he would have let me .

How do you what an NSX-R is like, have you driven one? - could be crap .

The "new Civic Type R" will be an exercise in brand marketing. Specifically in relation to the "Type R" badge

Don't expect anything true to the "racing heritage" of the Type R brand. At least for the UK market.

It will be big and fat and will probably need a turbo to cope with its weight.

I can't wait.

Malta - I am with you on this - I bought one a couple of years back as a runaround and for my daughters to learn to drive. It's a great little car and even without the upgrade very perky but 50mpg when driven carefully by the girls (when they are paying for the diesel)

It'll need a turbo to comply with Euro V emissions regulations.

Well, the new Civic is lower & runs on a shorter WB than the FKin behemoth, so it ought to be lighter & fleeter of foot.

If you can see out of this one too, it might even have a chance of being a spurty drive.

If it has the suspension of an Astra, it might as well have the engine of an Astra too. Ventolin anyone?
