De-icing - how do you do it?

scraper while the doggies have their first dump/pee of the day down the garden

sometimes too cold for spray - can refreeze - even worse to get off then!

then 30 seconds aircon and max hot air ten minutes later and done

I agree, especially tyres, I hardly even gave the car that much throttle this morning pulling out of a side road into a 60mph A-road (you have to go for it on the slightest gap otherwise you will sit waiting until 10am when the rush hours pass) and the arse end swung right out then back the other way... woke me up!

I do enjoy my Alonso-style (yeah right) tyre warm ups going along the road (normally completely devoid of traffic) in the frost. By the time I get to the main road the tyres are usually gripping quite well, but the engine takes till I'm 3/4 of the way through my 10 minute journey before it heats up.

I've a set of race spec pads, and they take a bit of heating, a few hard stops and they get better.
Can't seem to find traction in VTEC for any of the first 4 gears in the morning either

De-icer, and then wipers straight on to clear the water off the screen before it refreezes.

I can't be arsed with leaving the car running. Just de-ice, get in and drive. It soon warms up.

Hope your exhaust is stainless then or that you're not keeping the car long enough for it to rot out. You'll not be running the car long enough for all the condensation to dry out of the exhaust.

The exhaust system on an Elise is only about 3cm long and it's pretty cheap, so I'm not too bothered.
