I'd check to see if the heater booster fan's somehow affecting the inlet manifold pressure...

I start the car up, turn the heater up and leave it until it warms up, on the drive way.

Once up to temp, off we go

 

I just fill the kettle with warm (not boiling) hot water and pour it over the windows, and put the wipers on. Put the kettle back, and jump in the car and drive off. None of this mucking around with scrapping or de-icer.

 

why not fill the kettle with cold water and allow it to do its job?

 

Small 12v blowtorch, clears the screen in about 5-7 secs.. just need to be careful of the soft top..

 

I hope that all those people who leave the car running with the keys in live in out of the way places where there's no prospect of it getting nicked. Not a cat in hell's chance of an insurer paying out on a theft claim where they keys were in the ignition, irrespective of whether it was locked or not.....

 

That's no problem Mark as the 'would be thieves' would not be able to see where they are going as the window would still be frozen

 

Fill up a hot water bottle, then put it on a towel on the dash. Take the dogs for a walk, when I get back its near enough defrosted and the windows don't steam up

 

if im too lazy, then cold water over screen.
usually just end up sat in car, hold revs at 2k and wait till it naturally defrosts - added bonus of waking you up because it's so brass monkeys outside, and you can properly listen to morning radio for a few mins
