Dilemma....
Very tempting Mark, I've thought about an Evo (aswell as various others) but would want one as an addition to the S not instead of and can't really afford a decent one. It would be a shame to sell your S in a couple of months as your coming into peak S weather
True Marc but the top down thing has never really been my main reason for the car (which sounds odd!) I do like it down on occasion, but im not a die hard by any means! Think you should buy a 32 GTR as a toy
Neil, no way can I afford 2 cars! I must be going wrong somewhere
maybe when I hit 30 things will change
Thing is I dont think id be looking if it hadnt been offered to me! Buying Scoobs and Evo's second hand is a minefield, but the temptation is that I know this car.

I started thinking about Evo's the other day too. Not quite as "me too" as the Impreza, and infinitely quicker than practically anything else on the road. I don't do a lot of miles now (about 10 a day FFS), and the fact I can't push the S too hard in the wet has always pissed me off (although I did make a 911 get out of my way yesterday).
But the image of the Evo is still chav'd up. I don't know if I'd want to be considered "one of the boys" on the Lancer Register. Have you seen their grammar?
Tough call. The car's performance credentials are second to none, so it's just the image you have to be comfortable with. I almost bought an Evo V a few years ago, and test driving it didn't do much for me. It had 303bhp, and was bog standard. It was quick, but didn't feel it, and didn't thrill me in any way.
But when I have an open road in front of me in the extreme wet or a bit of snow in the S, I always regret not buying it.

I've always wanted an Evo. I love the fact that (in the right hands) they can be drifted *controllably*, piloted by a half-competent driver they will not be humiliated by 600cc sportsbikes, i don't see many of them, etc. And as i rarely do more than 70 miles a week, it seemed like a good option (an Evo was on my shortlist before settling on the S). But i've been put off by things like "mid-teens mpg", "4.5k service intervals" and "it'll need an engine rebuild at 40k miles at a cost of around
