Had a look on Autotrader today. There are tons of 2005 Evo VIII's going for 16 grand! They must be one of the highest depreciating cars on the road at the monent!

Good news for second hand buyers. Saw a cracker with only 8k miles on the clock too. Or I could spend 1k less and get an '01 Evo V. The V maybe the better looking of the two, but I'm not going to pay practically the same money for a car that's taken 3 years more abuse!

I think Mark that you should go for it, your at the right age for it,
as you get older you may think about the 'image' more.

The S is a great car and you can always get another later, try what
you want and dont have any regrets. (Im on my 40th motor!)

Russ.

that's a good point and nudges the speeds where they just get in the bloody way

despite the huge performance margins, the reason bikes outdistance everything else is mainly down to traffic, and their ability to negotiate it

there are plenty of cars with massive performance advantages over other cars, but they simply cannot overtake as easily as bikes

sustained high speeds (carrying greater risk and a need for greater concentration for the biker) is one of three areas I might fancy my chances against a bike

the others are under braking and in the wet

but it's a forlorn hope most of the time

byw, I think even the most potent EVOs will take a hammering from a bike - until it rains

Before you part with the cash, you may find this a bit of an eye-opener!!

after all the fuss you made about getting those wheels, you might have let someone buy them who wanted to keep the car for more than five minutes

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the Evo is if you ask me

As for the bike discussion, I disagree about the braking abilities of bikes - there are lots over here that go from very fast to stopped in a fraction of a second. Unfortunately, the riders don't possess the same ability
