Hey Mike, unlucky, but at least you came out unscathed.

and well done on that insurance deal!

I have to say I very nearly stuff my first 106 Rallye on a roundabout - I had just picked it up and had been in the car 5 mins(my first nippy car) - I carried so much speed through this long tight sweeping bend the roundabout was on me before I knew where I was - luckily I braked and ended up somewhere in the middle of the thing with the other cars managing to see my stupidity and avoid me...........I drove the rest of the journey home rather cautiously

I remember a few years ago my boss was all excited about getting his new 3 series and went home early that day to collect it. He lives in Manchester but works in Sheffield so has an enjoyable drive over the Snake Pass (A57) everyday. If i remember correctly it was winter time and when i got to work and i saw him sat there not looking quite as excited as the previous day so I asked how the new Beemer was.. I was met with a barage of obsenities as its turns out he lost the rear on a patch of ice about 5 miles away from Sheffield and hit a wall..

I think the excuse is the release compound in the tyres and not a twatty right hand.
No car stories though I'm afraid.
I seem to think bike tyres are far more dangerous than car tyres when new simply because of how much less contact area you have. I always had new tyres put on my bikes at National Tyres in Barnsley which was dedicated to fitting bike tyres and there is a roundabout about 50 yds away which they said so many customers had come off on when leaving! Always rode so steady around that but opened it on once on the M1 to get some heat in them!
