Default Is this even worth thinking about

Currently, i have a 03 Honda Type-S, and a clio sport.

I sold the S2000 when the baby came along, We use the accord just for small drives to nursery each day (the wife) and then at weekends.. I use the clio to 'blast' to work each day a 60 mile around trip with 30m-way miles.

Im getting pissed with the petrol prices, its not hitting me hard, I just beginning begrudge giving all the money to the bloody government..

The clio when you drive sensibly can do 39/40mpg, which is not bad

So I was thinking of chopping them both in.. as i don;t care about tax/drinking on the 'family car' so I was thinking something golf GTI/Seat Leon FR/Focus size ish with 5 doors, and tuning them a bit, maybe for some track action.

Then selling the clio (and attemping to get) a mint renault 5 turbo (or some classic). But the question is will a r5t (1.4) actually get good mpg, more than the clio, or as fun? Or any other cars that would fit and be cheaper <4K.

Just fishing for ideas really.

I'm completely lost

Do you want good fuel economy or something else.

Don't understand your ramblings at all.

Get a newer possibly less efficient weekend family car.. change the type-s to a gti/fr/focus RS.

and change the clio to a gt5 or something with a smaller engine.. but still some go..?

Why though? just fancy a change? Accord too slow for the times that you do drive it? Clio too crap?

Or is the sale of the accord going to fund the new small car?

I'd stick with the Accord Type S and replace the clio with a 197.

or a mini if you have indecisive sexual preferences.

we fancy something smaller than the Accord (and a change), and the clio is good.. but its tax/petrol etc..

I just wanted to save some cash, and get something small/light like a 1.6 205 or a Renault 5 GT.. something to take me back to my youth. Basically a older smaller beater.. with a bit of zip.

Im quite happy to get a cheaper beater, and put the money i save from that ontop the accord + some more.. The accord is not too bad, and on large roundabouts the arse will drift quite nicely, but with only 190, its not that quick..

I don't understand, you're worried about the tax/petrol on the Clio, but that will do 40mpg on a good day? No way a R5GT will get close to that surely?

Can I ask you what you think of the Clio? Is it a 172 or 182?
