Evora First Drive
The Caymen is a bitch. And I spanked it...The ergonomics, Mark; the trendies will love the Evora's trim, but the controls are better-placed in the Honda; unbelieveably un-offset pedals for a ME car.
Actually, in proportion, the Evora is incredibly close to Honda's HSC prototype from 2005.
The truth is, I sort of like to have a game-plan and I'm a tad concerned the Prelude will one day expire. Especially being driven at 9/10 everywhere. I require a 2+2, or somesuch. The 911 is no use, but the Cayman isn't a 2+2, but I can handle its engine location. I thought the Godzilla would be a possible 'Lude substitute, but it's too big and too costly. The Porsches are also Lotus' idea of its target market.
I really seriously admire the Evora for a lot of its engineering; the bolt-on chassis, some of the aluminium formations and its general specification look formidable. It's the first car that I would agree is as advanced as the NSX was. Also, it will come as a Targa and an S and even an Auto, so there really will be something in there for everyone (with true discernment).
I'm only being friendly with Cayman so I can get close enough to give her wallflower friend a serious rogering...

Glad you all enjoyed some of Norfolk's nice bits!
(thinks: must add the Evora to my '2010' list, although an F355 spider is still ahead
).

Fugly car IMO
I really like it I have to say. But why is it that each new Lotus seems to be even more ridiculously overpriced than the last? And the choice of a 3.5V6 seems odd for Lotus.
I am not going to stand here and defend a car I haven't driven but I will say that Evo (and yes I know how they portray motoring journalism) has done a very comprehensive piece on the Evora and back to back tests.
Likewise a lot of the other car mags are doing the same it does seem to be holding its own somewhat.
I have to admit it does little for me though. In a back to back with an S2 elise the Evora is a better car for doing trips in whilst the elsie was more of a fun / toy thing.

With 2 young kids, I would like a 2+2 but there are few options except for a 911.
