'and that some have upgraded from the S2000 to the Elise and Exige.'

you said it.

I sort of like it, I have been following its progress for a while. But I
fear its over priced and aimed at the wrong market.

To me Lotus should stick to the Elise/Exige formula and also develop
a proper 'supercar' like the eventual Esprit and not some middle
ground better served by Caymans and TT's etc.

Russ.

Does anyone remember the Esprit???

Big engine in that, and cost a fair whack back then. Near 30k back in 1998 for a turbo according to the interweb.

It's not a new thing for Lotus to do this. it's just the game has changed and there are some tasty alternatives.

MB - if this is a success (don't know how they are qualifying that) then the new Esprit gets a green light for 2011/12 alledgedly

That sounds exciting

They will be gunning for the big boys with that.

Not sure the Evora will hit the mark sales wise, but I imagine it's a superb thing compared to its peers. I guess people who want to progress in comfort levels from an Exige will be interested. And a new Exige S isn't too far off that price.

Exactly.

And the ingenuity of the architecture means the Esprit (and even a front-engined SUV!) can be spun off it!

Got a TD in the Evora set up for a few weeks time. Looking forward to the S version though. Not keen on the looks but then i saw one in the flesh at the dealer a few weeks ago & i like it. A nice looking car but does need some additons esp black alloys.

Not sure it would convert me from the Exige though esp with the new version out soon........one of which may be sitting outside my gaff in couple of years i think. Lovely looking piece of kit.

It's a totally different car to the Exige, Ed.

Fast, but refined and unexciting. Whereas the Exige is fast, involving, exciting and not refined!

The Exige is challenging to drive, this isn't.

111R and the DC2 are extremely different cars though - not sure you can direclty compare them.

You do feel everything through the steering, it's pretty much directly coupled to the wheels. When you're "on it" it makes more sense.
