Evora S test drive
Other than the Cayman being an ancient Boxster with a funny roof, that's true. In part at least, since there are a LOT of old Boxsters about. Relatively; IIRC, its inferior German cousins still outsell the Porsche. Which in itself proves your point about the daftness of the buying public.
I suppose having an Evora & a Boxster might be considered greedy...

oh dear - better start saving - loving the GTE http://www.thelotusforums.com/latest...for-frankfurt/
Had an Evora S on loan for 2 days whilst mine was having some work done. Very nice indeed, certainly notice the few improvements made (2011 model, not 2012 yet) - especially the valve opening in the exhaust when sports button activated, much richer sound and some nice "burble and pop" on the overrun. Power wise, not biblically different to the NA but noticeable and superb in the overtaking zone. Handling yes, a bit stiffer and perhaps it is the wheels (20" / 19") and tyres (PZero Corsa) but it did feel even more glued.
I wouldn't change for the sake of it but when it comes to new car time, perhaps next year will be an S unless something else tempts in the meantime.

The 2012 model seems to address the things I wasn't keen on in the S, particularly the gear change. Just seemed a little too stiff, a bit like the GT3.
I still have the issue that they are used GT3 money, but imo handle in a nicer way...

Yes - try not to think about the money - it is a luxury after all! I do like the way they handle but then have not ever driven a Porsche hard and certainly not anything as capable as a GT3 Will see what happens next year
Sounds like you still prefer the EvoraS's handling to the GT3's?
Yep. I'm more at home with something conventional. I know everyone hails the gt3 as motoring nirvana, and its an amazing machine, but it's still a compromise with the engine where it is. You do get used to the front nose bob though, and it's still got great grip and handling, but the evora is my idea of nirvana!
Yeah, everyone hails a lot of things as a lot of things and I invariably disagree with them!
I wouldn't want to get used to that PMI thing (too many depressing rear-engined cars & coaches as a kid makes me nauseous still) and the fixes to the 2012 Evora probably make it closer the car it should have been. And that means very, very good. Still wish it had a Honda engine...
