Shame about Button. His lap times were as good as those in the points, just some bad luck.

I am a bit surprised that McLaren are not mounting a protest, unless they know something that we all don't.

Curious one really, the only reason that I feel that they wouldn't mount an appeal was if they knew that it was a driver cock up by Hamilton.

Nope, dont buy that at all (though I strogly suspect it was typed to provoke reaction).

F1 drivers rely on each other to behave and drive in a certain way. There has to be a high degree of trust between tham to drive just a few mtr's apart, nose to tail at 180mph.

If drivers lifted off willy-nilly (it certaily doesnt take braking to slow an F1 car very dramatically - just lifting off at high speed, with the aero-effect slows the an F1 car more dramatically than hitting the brake pedal hard on a decent road car) there would be crashes left, right and centre.

Kovi shows Hamilton the way yet again! (Please sing the following to the tune of 'Pop goes the weasel)

...although Hamilton had a shunt which ruined his quali chances..

..which left him to sit on the grid as other cars went round him..

..which caused him to crash into the back of Alonso..

..which caused his car to suffer 'aero' damage..

..which caused him to battle it out with a super aguri all afternoon 2 seconds of the pace.

Pop goes the weasel

I think Hamilton is struggling massively with setting the car up at the moment. Long may it continue so Kovi can continue to beat him for pace.

Kimi looked like he could have turned the pace on if he had wanted to, but looked like he was happy to settle for 2nd and maximise points over Hamilton.

I understand all the trust stuff

I just think it borders on the paranoid and delusional to think that Alonso is going to try a stunt like that - not least because it could very dangerous for him too!

And Hamilton has form when it comes to overcooking things

Alonso didn't get away from the corner as quickly as Hamiltom would have liked - well poor old Lewis

Isn't this just a version of running into the back of someone at a roundabout?

However good you are, you can't be driving the other guy's car as well as your own

The only question for me is why haven't McLaren lodged a complaint, although I also suspect Lee has told us the answer

Hamilton isn't good enough to win this year - there's a prediction for you all

Radio 5 Live is the answer - good commentary that actually focuses on what is going on in the race (and nobody says things like "easy peasy chocolate squeezy"!). When the TV coverage goes back to Auntie I may resume watching again

I said that at the end of last season. It's easy (relatively speaking) to drive the fastest F1 car in the field quickly when one of the best drivers in the world gives you his settings. Towards the end of the year when that stopped (i.e. when Alonso got secretive), Hamilton was all at sea with blistering tyres etc. It's a bit more of a challenge coming up with your own. He's been quick to call himself team leader, and that's one of their main tasks as they are supposed to have the experience f knowing what works and what doesn't, beyond just using last years settings.

I've watched the replay maybe 6 or 7 times, and it looks as though Alonso very nearly loses it on the kerbs on the apex of the right hander and loses a shitload of speed. Hamilton avoids them, hence the speed differential.

It was funny though.

[QUOTE=Lewis Hamilton] I am really disappointed and feel like I let the team down today as I always am the first to blame myself,
