F1 - British GP saved again
I saw a programme from the Bike Show at the NEC on MotorsTV the other day and they interviewed the MD from Silverstone. He seemed to be suggesting the MotoGP circuit revisions would be ready for next year ...
I'm disappointed for Donington.
I know their finances (or lack of) are their own problem, but they do seem to have been caught up in Bernie's little game.
Silverstone is a very boring track - I could never understand the "it's been at Silverstone for years" argument in favour of them getting F1 back or keeping it. Clearly sentimentality means nothing to Ecclestone so why try to play on it?
Silverstone had chance after chance to improve but never has, yet they (Silverstone / BRDC) complain when Ecclestone went elsewhere.
Now Silverstone has the race (at no doubt extortionate cost) which they will have to recoup from the public. Ecclestone gets all advertising revenue.
Would it have been better to lose the British GP and shake things up a bit? As it is nothing's changed except Donington losing a lot of money and Ecclestone getting a lot.
Brilliant.
