I think you're right on the walls, but the kerbs should stay, IMO. They punish those who don't take the best line and make for exciting racing.
I think they should stay too. I just think that seeing as how Kubica almost got launched over the wall they might be told to get them lowered a bit for next year.

Didn't he take off because he hit the rear wheels of a Spyker?

I'll look for some pics, but I'm sure he hit the rear right wheel of someone's car then took off.

That only knocked his front nose cone off. Hitting the kerb just afterwards lifted the front end, and with no front end down force pushing the front down, he just went flying into the wall.

That wall he hit nearly head on was a fair way from the track. Ironically had there been a wall running alongside the track it would have been more of a glancing blow and probably been less of a serious accident. It's similar in that respect to Micheal Schumacher breaking his leg at Silverstone.

I think when somebody has a terrible accident like that and has no major injuries there's really no justification for panicking about safety.

I just think walls have no place in modern motorsport. There's no reason for them to be unprotected like that.

If you're feeling brave why don't you YouTube Greg Moore's crash? It's disgusting.

If the wall had been running parralel to the track rather than curving in like it did the impact would have been a glancing blow.

He was lucky he hit it as he did. It was almost a head on crash at 90 degrees to the section of wall he hit. That would have done him some serious damage.

It looks like he clips the rear wheel of a car in front that lifts the front of his car. Car comes back down to the ground but off line. He then hits the kerb that makes the car jump into the air and then he's just a rag doll passenger.

I saw that and thought he was going to be dead. Very nasty crash and says a lot about the strength and good design of the current F1 cars.

On another note, i think Hamilton did fantasically well to win that race and not crack under the pressure. He did have the fastest car, but Alonso in an identical car obviously didn't manage to get his setup right whereas Hamilton did. He then drove a flawless race despite all the safety cars and other pandamonium etc. He was just faster and mentally tougher than Alonso.

Say what you want about Hamilton, but he's not been off the podium in his Grand Prix experience and wins he 6th? race. He's fought on the track with some race winners and beaten them, he raced and out fought his world champion team mate. He's obviously got the speed, but he looks like he's also got the mental toughness, makes it look easy and seems to make his own luck which is another sign of a driver one step above the others.

Justifies his comments about Monaco where he said he was held back too.
