Completely disagree - afraid I can't name any of the races, but since safety cars were introduced I have seen many races where the experienced driver in the lead car has been "jumped" on the re-start.

Unfortunately on Sunday, for some reason Heidfeld seemed to have no inclination whatsoever to put Hamilton under any pressure on the re-starts - perhaps he was under orders from Bernie?

If Montoya was still in F1 and had been 2nd, the re-starts would have been much more exciting.

And as has already been said, the mental pressure of building up that huge lead to then have it wiped out, would probably crack many lesser drivers - just look at Trulli throwing it off the road without any such pressure!

Montoya was the only person who was capable of sticking to the car in front during the restart. He was used to it from his Champ car days, where the safety car comes out every 30 seconds.

Hamilton can only beat those around him, and everyone else cracked, so you can't blame the lad.

If anyone here watched the GP2 series last year, you'll know that the boys got massive talent, and knows how to lead a race, and how to over take people. Sure he's got the best car, but you need the best car in F1 to win anything, and it's been like that for a few years now.

Turkey. He spun on the first lap, then from the back was overtaking people left right and centre until finally getting up to second.

Of course, he shouldn't have spun on the first lap...

Yep. All of what we consider the top drivers have had the best, or perhaps second best car. Are we saying Prost, Senna, Piquet, Schumacher, Hill, Villeneuve, Hakkinen,Schumacher again and Alonso won because it was just the car? None of them would have been world champion in a Minardi for sure, but I don't think you'd say any of them weren't deserved champions.

I remember that race well. It was a joy to watch this kid cut his way back through the pack. Your right, he shouldn't have spun and had he not done so he'd have won the race, but what a come back.

I saw that today on the BBC's site.

That's total rubbish. Ron Dennis has never cared who wins, so long as one of his drivers does.

Impartiality will surely be limited when one has the potential to earn him a lot more money than the other.

I can't find a link, but he trotted out a similar excuse last year when he wasn't doing too well at Renault; they didn't want him to win and take the title, etc.

to be fair.. he was probably talking to the local spainish rag.. who will have encouraged it by leading questions..

no different to how the UK papers were playing it up for Hamilton at Monaco..

Alonso doesn't have the tyre advantage he had in the last few years.. this is perhaps the biggest leveller out there at the moment.

We were there

Saw the Kubica crash in front of us, thought he'd died. I've never seen a car explode like his did when he hit the wall. The car ended up right in front of the disabled stand where Colin, Beccy and my dad were standing - about 5 feet away

Great race, all the Canadians were supporting Lewis. Montreal was cool too - Recommended

And we met someone at the airport too...
