I saw Greg Moores crash live on the TV. And I had exactly the same feeling whilst watching Kubica yesterday. Awful.
There is absolutely nothing you can do to legislate for an accident like that Gregs.

I think it was the non-euro Civic Type-R

I saw that and thought he was going to be dead. Very nasty crash and says a lot about the strength and good design of the current F1 cars.
Don't i know it. I build the chassis for Red Bull and they aren't just slapped together. They are built to the nearest .1 of a millimetre and most are built in two halfs (Top and Bottom). The glue bond between the two have to be near on perfect.

It still makes me think that if i make a mistake i could be liable for a death.

I have built nearly 7 years worth of chassis so i do have the knowledge to make sure everything is spot when assembling.

Hope Kubica gets back into the seat soon.

Didn't he take off because he hit the rear wheels of a Spyker?
He hit the rear wheel of Trulli's Toyota.

The race was pretty predictable

Alonso did what he had to do - pass on the first corner - failed, and in the process removed all prospects of him winning

Hamilton, sitting in easily the best car out there, just drove it home with the minimum of fuss

It wouldn't have mattered if there had been 20 safety car deployments - nothing or no-one out there could have passed him

We know he is a top driver, but (fair) questions will remain regarding the extent of that ability until (if ever) he is in a lesser car

I can see a dream marketing scenario for F1 in 2008

Hamilton the new word champ versus a comeback Schumacher

But you'd still have the problem of the cars distorting the true picture

Despite all that, I expect Alonso to prevail by the end of the season, barring injury

Completely disagree - afraid I can't name any of the races, but since safety cars were introduced I have seen many races where the experienced driver in the lead car has been "jumped" on the re-start.

Unfortunately on Sunday, for some reason Heidfeld seemed to have no inclination whatsoever to put Hamilton under any pressure on the re-starts - perhaps he was under orders from Bernie?

If Montoya was still in F1 and had been 2nd, the re-starts would have been much more exciting.

And as has already been said, the mental pressure of building up that huge lead to then have it wiped out, would probably crack many lesser drivers - just look at Trulli throwing it off the road without any such pressure!

That could indeed be interesting

Often a case that the "experienced" driver at the front isn't experienced of safety cars as the newcomers. Hamilton will have had pleanty of experiences of safety cars from his GP2 days.
