the benchmark has to be how you do against your team mate..

in this respect Hamilton is doing well - season 1 against a world champion and season 2 against a driver that has apparently a lot of potential.

whereas drivers like playboy junior - you were just waiting for him to crash after the team put him on dry tyres.. and as per script he did at St Devote.

Oh, that makes perfect sense then. What would you suggest for him, this?

So... I don't watch much F1 becuase basically it's boring.

So I watched one a few weeks back, and Monaco, just to confirm my suspicions. Monaco was probably not a fair test though.

In fact the best bit was the noise from the AMG pace car towards the end

But i'd like to ask about Button... is he any good? I guess clearly he's talented, just not up there with the top guys.

But stick him in a decent machine, would he win?

Always seems to in the middle of the pack with Couthard. Why is this?

And is thrashing his team mate, and leading the world championship over two drivers in better cars
He's not though is he? Kovi has out qualified him a number of times. Bad luck has conspired against Kovi this year. The points difference does a massive disservice to just how well Kovi has done against 'Da Pimp'

Button is probably wondering why he should risk anything in a car which clearly won't win anything.

So he just does the circuit, passes go and collects another X million $$$

Similar situation with Couthard.

Was the last home driver in a car with a chance Eddie Irvine?
(except for that Swiss bloke in the Macca, Lewis something.....)

Not happy with Coulthard at the moment. Apparently he has fallen out with his business partner and they're selling the jointly owned hotel in Monaco.
The dispute has now escalated and now threatens the future of Dakota, a terrific hotel just off J27 of the M1, about 5 minutes from where I'm from.

So, what's a few jobs matter eh?

I don't see any current F1 drivers that are *better* than Hamilton, and considering it's only his second season (and this is only my opinion) I think that's pretty impressive. Any suggestion of the machine flattering Hamilton's talent is bullshit, he proved that he was faster/better than Alonso a 2 times world champion in the same car last year, which is proof enough of a rookies talent in my book.

Plus he shown everyone up in the 'reasonably priced car' on top gear in the wet, now argue with that !

Any suggestion that both drivers received equal treatment at McLaren last year is bullshit. Their treatment of Alonso last year was shocking. Once again this year, Hamilton is top dog, so Kovalainen has done well to out-qualify him several times this year. He makes silly mistakes because he isn't receiving the same sort of support as Hamilton. Having said that he is certainly enjoying a better tenure than Alonso did - I think lessons have been learned to an extent.

And he didn't beat Mansell on the TG track (although admittedly he was on a moist track).

I get the feeling that behind the scenes, life at Ferrari is extremely high pressure. I think Montezemelo will be on the phone threatening a swim in lake como with concrete boots on if they don't bring in anything other than perfect results.

I'm not sure Kimi enjoys that. Other than that I'd say Kimi is the most naturally talented driver on the grid, with Alonso after that, and then Hamilton. Hamilton is performing at their level, but he has only been able to do so in my opinion, as a result of his preferential treatment and years of nurturing from Ron Dennis.
