Driving the Countach is an event. You have to be super-aware of the road around you and the drivers who will stare at the car and then create their own accident. The turning circle is wider than the rings around Saturn and there's no power steering. Add to that almost zero visibility through the rear and the side windows, no aircon and a V12 that sounds like a sheet metal workshop, and you'll have a rough idea. Acceleration is noisy and gradual, rather than what is normally achieved by its modern day equivalent. Then you've got the fact that every element of the car would cost a fortune to replace. Scary stuff.

The biggest thrill we get from the car is letting people see it up close.

I drove a Murcie on a track and found that to be fairly hard work what with the open gate box manual box and the offset driving position and i would imagine driving one on the road, certainly in town is scary.. The Countach i can only imagine how many more times worse that would be!

I drove my mates Esprit V8 TT only once and i happened to be wearing flip flops at the time as it was middle of summer.. not the best choice of footwear! They are hard work compared to say the S2000 and my mate reckons it is a car that doesnt liek to rushed... although very rapid when required!

ive driven a friends Lotus Esprit V8 Twin Turbo - amazing car... very comfy and reminded me of TVR's in both build and finish on the inside - he did not have it long though 20k car i think... and he was to worried about something going wrong with it so only had it a while ! Lambo was my car $$$$$$ of choice when i was younger - no one can forget the cannon ball run were it changes colour ! just for your enjoyment

Amen to that.

I raced followed one along the A47 Norwich bypass on one occasion.

He didn't get away from me, but I had some trouble closing.

Mind, I was needing a new clutch plate at the time

Nice video! Always smile when I see that.

The black countach in the film is an earlier model of course and, interestingly, has a front wing. This was a US requirement regarding front bumper laws and the height of the vehicle. It looks bloody awful, but there you go. The 25th Anniversary model has the addition of testarossa-style side strakes (see my pics above) and other cosmetic changes which effectively made it less and less aerodynamic!

My hubbie and I really think they should make a modern day Cannonball.

Cast:
The priests: Chris Rock and Adam Sandler
JJ McClure (Burt Reynolds): Ben Affleck (or George Clooney)
Captain Chaos / JJ's sidekick: Jack Black
Chicks in the Lambo: I'll leave the boys to make that decision!
Beauty: Scarlett Johansson
Hicksville chaps: Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller
The Doctor: ?
Japanese entry: ?
Any more I've missed?

Cars:
Discuss!!!
