Looking forward to the season opener - especially as it's in HD.
Maybe it's time to finally buy an HDTV. Hmmm.
Yes! Finally an excuse to upgrade to a SkyHD box, I reckon the Mrs will go for that as she loves F1 (and is totally smitten with Fernando )

Button and Hamilton leading after P2. You can only tell so much from practice of course, but it looks like McLaren and Mercedes aren't quite so out of it as everybody thought.

1 Jenson Button 4 McLaren-Mercedes 1:25.854
2 Lewis Hamilton 3 McLaren-Mercedes 1:25.986
3 Fernando Alonso 5 Ferrari 1:26.001
4 Sebastian Vettel 1 Red Bull-Renault 1:26.014
5 Mark Webber 2 Red Bull-Renault 1:26.283
6 Michael Schumacher 7 Mercedes GP 1:26.590
7 Felipe Massa 6 Ferrari 1:26.789
8 Sergio Perez 17 Sauber 1:27.101
9 Rubens Barrichello 11 Williams-Cosworth 1:27.280
10 Nico Rosberg 8 Mercedes GP 1:27.448

Anyone else get up at 6am to watch?

I think the Mclarens were running empty tanks looking at first practice times.

1. Mark Webber Red Bull-Renault 1m 26.831s
2. Sebastian Vettel Red Bull-Renault 1m 27.158s
3. Fernando Alonso Ferrari-Ferrari 1m 27.749s
4. Nico Rosberg Mercedes-Mercedes 1m 28.152s
5. Rubens Barrichello Williams-Cosworth 1m 28.430s
6. Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes 1m 28.440s
7. Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 1m 28.483s
8. Michael Schumacher Mercedes-Mercedes 1m 28.690s
9. Kamui Kobayashi Sauber-Ferrari 1m 28.725s
10. Vitaly Petrov Lotus Renault GP-Renault 1m 28.765

They are just trying to get their names in the headlines.

yeh I pulled an all nighter lol!

Do the same thing tonight to watch Quali.

Its good to see McMerc are not totally out of it, but I reckon RBR and Ferrari still have some left in remains! Although did anyone see the state of Vettel's tyres after Practice 1, there were chunks missing!

Dunno what is going to happen tomorrow in Quali now if the tyres end up ruined after a flying lap. Will be even worse I imagine in the race with full fuel load.

Some onboard videos from practice today. Quite interesting to see the differing driving styles shown between the 3 drivers.

Looking forward to this.

I don't actually mind that the tyres are poor if it makes for a better spectacle.
I can't remember where it was last season, maybe Canada, but the tyres were going off quite early and the race was a cracker because of it.

It's almost like the rain effect, but without the rain.

Vettel really is amazing at times.

It looks to me that the cars are sliding around a lot more, not least when they're opening the rear flap a bit too early - shame they won't be able to do that in the race.
