The Formula 1 Thread - 2011
McLaren make me laugh the most. With all their $$$, technology, real time simulations on super computers back at Woking
they couldn't even get Lewis around in time to make his hot lap.. Maybe they could fit a Tag Heur digital watch/egg timer in the cockpit for Korea next week?

you know, big budget doesn;t guarantee success - somebody remember Honda's and especially Toyota's F1 "achievements" ???....

Hence the reason why Merc needs to put a lot more money to compete than first told.
I've been doing some bedtime reading about composites. It's an amazing area of material science; CNT, aerolastic lay-ups, electrical conductivity and electrical effect upon material properties. The creative application of these properties is really fascinating...
Where:- Korea
Track:- Korea International Circuit, Yeongam

Brand new circuit, designed by Hermann Tilke, responsible for all the new processional, tricky to overtake tracks so I am not filled with confidence on how good the race will be, but you never know, the track just looks pretty generic to be honest.
DRS zones will be on the long straight after turn 2, which is one of the longest straights on the F1 calendar at over a Km in length! Although the DRS zone will only be 350m in length.
Friday 14 October: Practice one - 0200-0330; Practice two - 0600-0730
Saturday 15 October: Practice three - 0300-0400; Qualifying - 0600-0700
Sunday 16 October: Race - 0700

IIRC the surface was also very fresh last year. It'll be interesting to see what it's like this read.
