Yet more reliability issues though.
Good to see the tyres doing as intended, although it did make it a bit of a confusing race to follow, what with all the pitstops. And the flappy thing seemed to work quite well, but again what was obvious it was the design of the circuit, in particular having the twisty slow corners at the end of the long straight, that was the reason there was so much overtaking. Often the DRS was just helping them get close enough to have a go round the twisties. Which is all good.

I didn't think Hamilton got up to any tricks when I saw his incident with Alonso live. Brundle and Coulthard didn't make any comments either, so I'm surprised at the stewards' decision ...

Both drivers had 20 seconds docked from their overall race time but only Hamilton lost position as a result. The McLaren driver dropped one place to eighth and Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi moved up to seventh.
Hamilton retained his third place in the championship but is now level on 22 points with Red Bull's Mark Webber.

Great race! Poor ending from the FIA, some things should be allowed to just be classed as a racing incident. Both drivers made errors, Alonso made an error that had a high probability of ending Hamilton's race and it was pure luck that it didn't. In saying that, Hamilton also broke the rules, so the stewards should have just cancelled them out and let it be a racing incident.
It was good racing between Hamilton and Alonso and once again the FIA is making overtaking difficult and confusing, whilst trying to promote it.
The FIA need to lighten up on the rules, regs and be consistant with the penalties given if F1 has a hope of having more overtaking.
Other than that, what a fantastic race!

I did notice that Hamilton was somewhat vigorously defending on the straight and it did make me wonder if he was likely to fall foul of the moving more than once rule. Alonso's penalty seems pretty ridiculous as it was a minor collision that didn't affect the other car, and he paid a bigger penalty for it. Where one driver knocks the other one out and carries on, then yes maybe the stewards should be getting involved, but again it seems they're punishing someone for trying to race, and that's the last thing anyone wants.
