The Formula 1 Thread - 2012
From the onboard it looks very cut 'n dry. I counted three sets of flashing lights in that clip the last as he's overtaking. Plus his dash has the yellows. The yellows on his dash seem to clear at the following corner right at the end of the clip.
Are they not officially handed the trophy until the end of season awards ceremony?

LOL shame on Sky sports for showing the wrong footage. That pass was legal. Here's an explanation showing where Vettel did infringe the yellow flag rule

Should Ferrari appeal? S2ki opinion poll please?

ItsIllegal you know.... The only thing in Sebs favour is that he could say the other car was slightly slowing but to me, it was a cut and dry slipstream pass, probably with a dab of Kers too.
The imaginary line starts at the green light, he's already passed him! Whether or not the green flag was being waved near the last yellow flasher, this will be further under scrutiny and need to be proven to save Vettel. If it can't, Alonso is champion, without doubt.

Love it that Alonso is tweeting cryptic bullsh@t, he must be w£nking his brains out right now realising the championship is more than likely his. F1 is proving to be the slimy-est sport ever, great story though this and if I'm honest, I think the Spaniard, with his inner Ninja deserved it overall. He never gave up, had a worse car, slower compatriot (that in team order situations can help), plus many a time Red Bull were in trouble for design infringements.
Would Vettel be as good as Alonso, in a worse car? Not so sure, although the German is fantastic, splitting hairs is probably the answer.
Can't wait for the decision tomorrow night on this :-)

If it is unequivocal that Vettel passed under a yellow flag then he ought to lose the championship; I don't see any other logical or, importantly, fair outcome.
And if Alonso takes the championship as result I for one will be delighted - insofar as the2012 season is concerned then the best man will have won.
