The Formula 1 Thread - 2013
tires last 6 laps - this is crazy.
we don't see cars racing or drivers racing each other - we see drivers saving tires.
even skip qualify for tires sake.
we do see a lot of action on the track because of the tires - but is this a sport we want?

Another ... average race to watch. KERS and DRS make overtaking so easy, there is no point in the driver in front trying to respond it's just so artificial. Then the tyres, now all we are finding is people driving at 8/10ths because driving flat out will muller the tyres and therefore a driver must not go as fast as he can. F1 needs a long hard look at itself.

They may as well give them Blue Shells.

I think they need to rethink DRS on some circuits. Maybe they should only have it on the ones where it's harder to overtake. With two massive long straights and the fact enough overtaking was done going into corners, I don't think China really needs it, or maybe have a shorter section on the start/finish straight.
Tyres lasting only 5-6 laps is a joke. I thought this was meant to be the pinnacle of motorsport?
Alonso was in a league of 1
Massa looked good but faded a bit towards the end.
Hamilton in a slower car should be well chuffed with 3rd.
Button played to his strengths very well and got an excellent result.
Webber suffers from more bad luck.
And finally.......
Vettel is still a massive cock

You want to go back to the days of "it's impossible to overtake" and one long procession? Because I disagree. F1 has been a lot more exciting the last couple of years.
What they actually need to do is shorten the time the car loses in the pits. Admittedly we'll never go back to the unrestricted speed limits, but if the track had a short cut missing out a section meaning that pit stops cost you 8-10 seconds instead of 20, you'd find they'd go for it then.

Hence why you'd have to modify the circuits so that driving through the pitlane at the speed limit would cost you about -6 seconds. Add on the 3 seconds for the stop and there your have it
As for the race, I imagine conspiracy theorists have blown up over Webber now, but otherwise it was an average race.
