Not that easy. They can't send signals to the car, so they'd have to program the gearbox in advance to fail in a certain way at a certain point, but recover. Certainly not as easy as say switching development to next year's car, or just not bringing the latest updates. and so slipping further behind Ferrari.

Maybe it's a bit far fetched to think Hamilton did have a bit a wobbly by himself, but it's far more plausible than the whole championship being one giant conspiracy. Hamilton lost it really by crashing in the pitlane in China, and Alonso spun whilst in the lead of a wet race somewhere too. If it weren't for those two events, the championship would have certainly been McLaren's. Or do the tin-foil hat wearers think that was all part of the FIA's master plan too?

Interesting little table on the Eurosport website quoting how much past and present F1 drivers are worth:

A bit rich (excuse the pun) putting Johnny Dumfries top on that list as his wealth comes from the fact he's the Marquis of Bute and owns the island ... !!

Also, IIRC, Eddie Irvine invested his earnings in property and now has a substantial portfolio ...

I was surprised at Eddie, he always struck me as someone who would spunk it up the wall.

Yep

Throughout the years F1 has frustrated me, it's a love hate thing ... when Ferrari were bossing everyone with their exclusive tyres during Schumacher' reign, to Williams bossing everyone for a while with Newey and now RBR also with Newey... I seem to have come to the conclusion to just sit back and watch it, but the frustration does rear its head from time to time, ah well, 3 weeks before the next race so can have some weekends to myself for a while
I like that the TV coverage will focus on where the racing is meaning that teams who shoot off into the distance get little coverage. Red Bull being a marketing platform can't be best pleased with their driver running his own race out front and getting far less coverage than the midfield teams scrapping over position.
Haha yeah, the irony is not lost on me either

OH dear, and this is how dull the F1 race was, not a comment on the Spanish GP, if you'll excuse the pun, 'says a lot really'.

The only good things were that Vettel didn't win and Massa beat him.

Both missus and myself lasted until around lap 30ish and woke up to the national anthem.

Could be that it was really dull or we're just getting old?

I'm finding MotoGP a much better bet at the moment, along with bumper cars (BTCC)

edit: we should have an S2ki competition to see who can watch a whole race without sleeping!!
