The Formula 1 Thread - 2013
It really Is great being able to watch a dull race like that in 5 minutes (first few opening laps then block skipping quickly through to the end trying to keep awake
) then going to bed last thing of a day.To have watched the whole race live from start to finish would have been soul destroying. I really would have felt I had lost part of my life i could not get back and felt guilty for not doing something more constructive with my day. To subscribe to the F1 sky package would make matters worse knowing that I had helped line Bernie's pockets too for such a dire show of "racing"
(if you can actually call it that)
I watched some of the practice; qualifying was great, and I watched both of the GP2 races which were pretty good. I also watched the films on the 1955 and 1958 Belgium GPs, and some of the 1998 race the other evening. The main even wasn't that exciting, but it's still F1, and I think I got my money's worth from Sky (even though it doesn't cost me any extra).

Yeah, Vettel had way more speed up through Eau Rouge on the opening lap and cruised past Hamilton
Webber had a crap start again - too close to Vettel so they had to make sure he wouldn't be a problem.
It just seems too obvious now - if he doesn't have a KERS issue or gearbox change, he has a bad start.
As much as I like Ricciardo, if he joins the team, Horner will lose all control and Helmut will gain it all.

I can't wait for his book.
At Spa there are huge straights to overtake on and the bulls were geared and setup really well for it.
Not strictly F1, but F1 related news.
Fernando Alonso stumps up €6 million to take over and save Euskaltel, the Basque professional cycling team.

Mr. Alonso is really starting to go up in my estimation.

I fear Monza may be another bore fest ... unless it rains of course!
Something was very definitely up with Hamilton, did anyone hear how subdued he was, he was just very down and drove as though he just didn't think it was that important any more, not at all like him something is definitely on his mind.

Yes, hope he sorts out whatever's wrong.
Still, it was refreshing to hear a driver being honest instead of the usual excuses they come out with.
Obviously he did get kicked in the 'Parabolicas' by his 'ex-best-buddy' Adrian 'Bar room brawler'' Sutil, but as he said "I drove like an idiot"
Even super-stars have bad days driving, makes me feel a bit better about finding 6th instead of 4th on the way home today..

Ps CROFTY QUOTE OF THE DAY
"Ferrari are putting their eggs in an Alonso front-row basket"
What is he on?
