The Formula 1 Thread - 2015
There was a great atmosphere at the track where the lack of actual on track entertainment doesn't impact as much as watching the entire race on TV.
People were really behind Hamilton, Ricciardo and Button.
I was at the last few corners and you'd see Rosberg inch closer to Hamilton for a few laps and the next lap Hamilton just extended it at will.
Seeing poor old Jenson slip further and further back was depressing and I was still expecting it to go bang all the way until the end but the crowd were really willing him on hoping for one more retirement to put him in the points.
I'm planning in catching the TV highlights despite reports it's dull but crowd atmosphere turned it into a great weekend.
This is what happens when popular drivers do well. Hamilton winning last year and Ricciardo doing so well got people back behind it. If Ricciardo has the year it's looking like he'll have it will hurt popularity next year.

I think all three were getting boos. Australia has gone mental promoting it and Ricciardo. His face was plastered everywhere in Melbourne, the tickets had him on it and he's pretty much all anyone in Australia cared about so the new 'fans' aren't happy that red bull are poor this year.
I was really surprised by the language that Nico used throughout the weekend.
He constantly kept referring to Hamilton as World Champion and having put in a "World Champion's" performance in both qualifying and in the race.
I don't know about you, but to my ears it's almost as if he is resigned to getting a pasting this year already.

I see that RBR are throwing their toys out of the pram.
So after annihilating everyone for 4 years straight, they behave like a spoiled brat when another team does something similar...

Ecclestone's mismanagement of the Formula has a lot to answer for of late.

The MP that handed out one of the trophies got a load of boos. I thought Vettel did too, though perhaps they were booing Arnie (I was cringing when they announced him doing the interviews, but actually I thought it went pretty well).
A fairly average F1 race I thought, not an especially boring one. No real race for the lead, a bit of a race for third that ultimately got decided in the pits, but some racing further down to keep it entertaining. A bit of a shame 5 cars were out before the start, and another two on the first lap. How embarrassing is it for McLaren to be the single finisher that didn't score a point? And Alonso's already down one engine and he didn't even drive.
