Snap though don't remeber durex. Where they involved in any 'accidents'?

I not advocating that modern cars resemble those from the sixties ...

I'm merely highlighting the significantly greater surface area of modern cars. I felt my suggestion would give designers the freedom to choose where they "spent" their aero allowance and thus still allow them to innovate, innovation being surely what differentiates F1 from most other motorsport formulae ...

Hmmm i don't think innovation is what differentiates F1 to other motor sports, the fact it is 'open cockpit' and reputedly the fastest cars with the best drivers is the difference .... at least .... it should be

Each to their own, but the actual cornering speed - whilst technically impressive - adds nothing to the sport for me. It's the wheel-to-wheel action and overtaking that make motorsport exciting.

The bikes in MotoGP, which rely entirely upon mechanical grip in corning, demonstrate some of the most breathtaking overtaking maneuvers that occur in motor racing. Sure the lean angles add to the drama, but nonetheless it is very exciting viewing.

Senna and Schumacher were still keen participants in what both considered was the purest form of motor racing - karting.
IIRC Schumacher, until his tragic accident, was a still a driver for Toni karts.

Motor sport ought to revisit the truism less-is-more. Or given the ever technical complexity of the cars and continued 'progress', how long before they're driven remotely like drones...

Whilst we are on the subject of aero, how come the surface of the F1 cars aren't like shark skin - watching the documentary.. erm "Shark" on BBC last night they were talking about the skin being super slippery in water and air - how come this hasn't been adopted to F1 (or has it and I've missed it)
i thought the same...wonder if you can get a shark skin wrap
Maybe not so far away but weight penalty seems an issue

I do feel a bit sorry for Hamilton, but he is the architect of this mistake.

He constantly whinges at the team when they do/don't bring him in so the team are always on a knife edge with which way to go.

When the team gives him instructions on the track, he ignores them so so when they told him to pit he should have said no, unless he though his tyres were rubbish.

So yeas a bit of a f uck up from the Merc team, but Hamilton isn't innocent in it.
