The Formula 1 Thread - 2015
I do feel a bit sorry for Hamilton, but he is the architect of this mistake.
He constantly whinges at the team when they do/don't bring him in so the team are always on a knife edge with which way to go.
When the team gives him instructions on the track, he ignores them so so when they told him to pit he should have said no, unless he though his tyres were rubbish.
So yeas a bit of a f uck up from the Merc team, but Hamilton isn't innocent in it.

The only reason why Hamilton was an architect of this was by being miles ahead of his team mate.

I wouldn't have pitted, but if Lewis was complaining about the tyres, the call was marginal and the team made a calculation based on the VSC. And the crucial part was the 2 second delay with the sauber going into the pits.
So it's not just one thing, and I honestly believe it's Lewis' temperament that has caused the team to make a bit of a poor call.

Interesting quote from Bernie Ecclestone that Hamilton is far and above either Rosberg or Vettel before him in the commercial/PR side of the F1 circus. Which is why no German GP this year whereas all (well, almost all) of the UK is behind their man. Bernie did however say that he personally wouldn't wear gold jewelry and I guess there are a few who agree
I'm not fully blaming Hamilton, but I'm saying he isn't free of blame. The media machine will make sure that Hamilton is free of blame because he needs to be surrounded by love and kittens so he doesn't throw a strop.
However, if they don't tell Hamilton the truth and the reason why they bought him in down to past issues, it'll happen again.

The reason they brought him in was because they thought they had a big enough gap to do so and keep him in front.
