I remember a few years back Red Bull were talking about making their own engine. I know it wouldn't happen for 2016. But I certainly wish they would.

I believe that Red bull have been offered previous year's spec engine and have declined. They want a decent engine to be at the front of the grid in their own right, not making up the numbers in the middle ground behind the engine manufacturer's 1st team.

Red Bull are not popular in the F1 paddock. The renault engine might not be the best, but in my opinion Red Bull shouldn't have been so publicly vocal in their criticism of Renault. They've wrecked that relationship and also made the other engine manufacturers very wary of them for the same reason.

At least when Honda finally get their act together the perception will be that its been a team effort between Mclaren and Honda.

They want to be at the front without having to spend the money that Mercedes and Ferrari have spent to be at the front, is one way of looking at it. Clearly they need a dedicated engine partner, like McLaren have with Honda, which they could perhaps get for 2017 in VW but not next year. AFAIK they still have a contract with Renault so I suspect they'll end up with Renault for another year and then do something different the year after. Which at least keeps them around.

Megaschitz is an egomaniac and a bully determined to get his own way. F1 is not dependent on the participation of Red Bull as he will find out when he throws his toys out.

and furthermore you never heard RedBull shouting how good the 'Renault engine' was as a part of their victory speaches, they have burnt too many bridges and stood on too many toes along the way IMO. What do they say 'be careful who you tread on on the way up as you may well meet them again on the way down'

Watching Sky's coverage this weekend Ted Kravitz did a good interview with Christian Horner in which he was back pedalling with regards to Renault.

Unfortunately, the real losers will be the staff who are working for the teams. Probably 800 jobs will go between RBR and Torro Rosso. I'm sure some will get snapped up, but I imagine that 2/3rds will be on the unemployment line

If it has truly been offered, a 2015 spec Ferrari engine could seemingly work out very well for the guys at RB. We have all seen the vast improvements Ferrari have made since their 2014 specs. I'd take them up on their offer, move forward with developing around it, and stop being such ninnies about everything.

EDIT: I'm sure it is obvious albeit yet mentioned here in the thread, but Raikkonen being penalized with a 30 second penalty for the last lap incident with Bottas means Merc have secured the Constructors. Also, Kvyat obtained 5th place in front of his home crowd as well, which is pretty cool.
