I am surprised at the comments suggesting the Prius is ugly however. Interestingly, at the pub' on Friday evening, a good friend arrived in his new-that-day car; a C-Class 350 CDi Sport. NFI from anyone, but plenty in the Prius. Sign of the times.
You need to find another pub.

And whilst there are a lot of people who may choose to buy a shi t box like a Pious (other shi t boxes are available), they are a means of transport only, enabling you to remove your brain and hope to get home without being recognised. There is no enjoyment included, except perhaps some bizarre misplaced belief that you are doing something positive for the world.

I'm not sure who cares about the MPG of the Pious...except the misers who drive them.

Still - each to his own

I've no doubt you're not sure.

It's the usual home appliance colour; White.

The rare earth metal may be an exaggeration, but it certainly has truth.

Now you could argue that it's the same metals in laptop batteries at al, but the prius needs them on a much larger scale.

Someone needs to think up a true environment cost, rather than these shitty "carbon costs".

Absolutely. It would almost certainly lead to a reduction in diesel usage, which can only be a good thing.

Well I do think that you should only be allowed a diesel if you're doing more than about 15,000 miles a year.

Very interesting

A minute spent at some traffic lights absolutely ruins average speeds.

The mpg of the Prius is very impressive though, and I rather like the looks of it.
How true.

Even worse in a 150mph S2000 - I reckon it can take 20 mins to catch up with Eddie Stobart, who passed you whilst you stopped to tank up!

The rare earth thing is probably not so much of an issue due to 'gearing up' for production and recyclability. IIRC, some studies show the energy costs may become more tolerable as they become commonplace.

For those that don't understand hybrids, the point is purely re-cycling enegry wasted as heat whilst braking; calculations suggest they may be up to 30% more efficient, especially in town. Hence the CR-Z commuter car. Part of the payback ough to be not having heavy and complex and expensibe cylinder heads, turbos & injector pumps associated with modern Diesels.

Unfortunately, Peugeot seem to have misunderstood this with their 3000000000000000000000000000000008 hybrid, which cannot make up its mind if it's a FWD Diesel, or a RWD electric.

True. The chauffeur of my friend's grandmother used to opine 'Braking wastes petrol'.
