Why?
Sutely if you want to save the planet & the cheerleader, you have to keep it until the wheels fall off. Which if it's a trad Toyota, could be an awfully long time.

as anyone who's ever commuted distance will tell you, doing it in a good car can be a proper waste. you'll bang on miles, destroy tyres and burn fuel.. all to go at exactly the same speed as every other chump
The daily grind destroyed my appreciation of my first S2000; at the end of my tenure with it, I actually preferred commuting in the Smart pool car whilst waiting for my 2nd generation Prius to arrive.
This will most likely be my last post on the Prius until it leaves me in 2013...
I've been running the car for 3 weeks and have covered 2337 miles - the average MPG is 60.6 - that's calculated from the odometer and litres to fill the tank to the brim, rather than an on-board computer figure. The computer is c. 2.6 MPG optimistic.
The Intelligent Park Assist is completely crap - but the rear view camera, with guidance showing vehicle position in relation to steering input, is surprisingly useful; so much so I'd suggest the door mirrors could be dispensed with if additional cameras were mounted in their place to provide views in addition to that from the rear camera only.
Nothing has gone amiss with the car. No squeaks or rattles. I've been back to the dealer once - through choice - to have the software configuration changed to silence the continual reversing beeper.
It's comfortable, the auto' complements my daily grind, it has more than enough internal space for what I require - and it does what it says on the tin. It is of course completely anodyne.

Actually, some loon in a new-shape Priapism (I don't think it was A Karenina) came tearing up behind me & undertook round a roundabout. I was turning right, in the Prelude, which isn't exactly slow. Excellent!
I have a new-found respect for the cars, now that some people are trying to destroy the prissy, more-sanctinious-than-thou image they originally gained. They were like the new Volvo 343 or MiniMetro; always in the f ucking way.
I wanna see a riced one at the Ace Cafe; all Wings West & shit. Lose that braincell-donor Hollywood Star quality once & for all.
