got pulled over for speeding
I got caught in 1995 doing well over 100 on road that had recently dropped from 70 to 50 (Ombersley dual track for those that know it) foot to the floor boards, spotted the Police bike and threw the anchor out... slowed to 45 and carried on my journey, he eventually caught up with me in Worcester. He was so mad I thought he was going to kill me, he reckoned I was way over 140 but got me on an average of 103.9
I ended up in court but my solicitor got me away with 6 points,

Hmmm, that's interesting. My friend had a 7 day ban and I'm sure he tells the insurer that his lience is clean. A case of him not being entirely honest?
If it is "Have you been convicted of any traffic offence in the past 5 years?", he would have to declare it. If it's a more nebulous "Do you have any endorsements on your licence from the past 5 years", or something similar, he may be OK.
Keith, perchance....?

Most insurance firms ask within the last 5 years. Speeding fines are legally spent within 3 so I thin they can be omitted from that age.

They only cease to count towards the 12 points "totting up" rule after 3 years and can be physically removed from your licence after 4 years. Insurers are still perfectly within their rights to ask about offences in the previous 5 years however.
