hands up
Just re-read the 1st page and about 80% of it is not really that positive is it?!
Comments around stigma, people who cant drive, image, picture of clarkson with "cocks" on his back, snobbish badge, 2 a penny etc.
If it was reasons like, poor quality, ridiculous servicing costs and poor perfomance etc I could accept that
The aesthetics is a perfectly justifiable on though, if you dont like the look of the thing to start with....

As MarkB said
This could have been about Skodas or BMWs - etc
I was behind one of them a few weeks ago! Amazing thing.
Unfortunately he forget to turn his left indicator off and someone in a micra pulled out in front of it at a T Junction.
Game over for that 911
It was a total wreck.

Can't say I'm that interested in a porker, or any 'expensive' car right now but maybe one day.
The problem with 911s is I'd either want a very basic one that even if I could find would be hard to sell on or something very expensive and extreme like a GTsomethingorother. Nothing in between, which would be realistic, really interests me.
Saw a GT3 RS with red decals in the paddock at Silverstone yesterday and I think I actually dribbled.

DBM,
I actually think the Boxster S is a very good car and spectacular VFM, since it's built of re-arranged 911 bits.
Personally, I like the understated shapes & interiors, since I am severely bigoted against spotty RCA design graduates who wnat to scribble unnecessary lines over every surface these days.
I despised the way the purity of the 911's shape became corrupted from the 70s onwards. The 996 restored it, thankfully.
I've been up against 944s on the track. Close to the S2000 in size, ecxellent torque, no power. It may be a bastard Audi, but it's far less cynical than the TT.
The Porsche snobbery is legendary, even between Boxster & 911 strata.
Would I want a 911 C4S? Possibly, when I'm such an old fart I can't drive like a hooligan any more.
Gad,
You will be unsurprised to know that I am a great admirer of little Fulvia and her elegant sister Flavia. And all the way back to the great Lambda (early, pure version).
How long did it take for VW to get their narrow-angle V6 to work?
Just mind the front subframe's actually attached to something!

There are two reasons why I wouldn't pick a porker.
Personally I have nothing against people who drive Porsches. My best mate has just brought a brand new Carrera S (had a box before) and I agree that it is a fantastic car. I like the new look much more than the previous model. It goes like stink and (with the optional button
) sounds great as well. However, if I had
I've driven a 911 once on a Drivers Dream Day thing last year.
4 laps of the Top Gear track.
Awesome machine.
But I can see what those who describe it as being 'too good' are saying. It is just so easy to drive.
I'm not sure that necessarily detracts from the fun value though. I think that I would need to own one for a while to really give a valid opinion.
