I went karting in Portugal and came 1st
I've just got back from Portugal from a very tough 3+ day stag weekend
On the Saturday we went to a superb karting venue with stadium, lap time info, massive 800m circuit, inaugurated by Ayrton Senna and a replica of the Brazil F1 circuit - it was simply awesome and especially with qualifying (i was on pole ), 30 min race, lap times and with 14 of us all racing together!!
2 of the guys have boxters (1 an S), 1x M3, 330 convertible, 1x TT 3.2, 1x S3 and even an elise!! I was absolutely flying round and lapped some guys 3 times, most twice but even lapped the others up till 4th place - ha ha.
Good effort for the S2000 man!!

Where abouts was the circuit (I may be off to Portugal for a quiet week to get some sun)?
They have a whole range of different karts depending on the weather and standard of driver.
I've been on at least 8 track days, 10+ karting events, 2 red letter days, 4+ quad biking days and I put this up there at the top The standard of karts are good, the long start / finish straight is massive and loads hairpins / sweeping bends to really challenge the driver and get the back end out
I will post a photo of me on the podium when I am sent it by one of the lads.
All the guys were asking for advice and wondering how come I was 1.5 seconds quicker a lap compaired to the 2nd place guy. I honestly put it down to nearly 3 years of S2K ownership However the Elise driver was pretty gutted as he was favourite to win but only managed 3rd

I was talking about karting with someone the other day
our shared experience was that:
if you are anything over 8st you are at a massive disadvantage - talent notwithstanding
if you don't get the 'good kart' of which there is always one, the same applies
good fun, but not to be taken too seriously

The "good Kart" thing is very true.
Nightmare when you get a shitbox.
Last time I went was somehere near Andover, and the steering was that heavy I couldn't hang on after 10 laps. We were all in a lot of pain the next day.

As commented on above. Weight make such a difference. I've a porker these days and whilst based on talent I should of course win every kart race (), sometimes I don't.
The duff cart is also a frustrating one!
As it the prat who offs you on the first corner, demoting you from your hard earned pole to last place!
