Interview with the GTR designer

No the solution to getting more grip without weight or downforce is to simply use a softer compund tyre.
having had the pleasure of working with David Leslie (RIP
) in setting up the Tojeiro Buick it still has the 20kgs of lead in the nose to keep the car stable. we even got to having slightly different left and right tyres pressures as Goodwood has more right hand bends. (only Dunlop 'L' section tyres are allowed)i'm sure the GTR is a compromise between grip and safty as most owners will never be able to push the car anywhere near the capabilities.
another little story. one of our customers has a Cobra race car which he has had and raced for many years and usually wins or is podium placed with this and other cars he has. he is no slouch. Disiree Wilson drove the car and in her second lap of ever driving the car went quicker than the owner has ever been. needless to say the owner was most put out
.grip is useless without talent

are we talking round the track or popping to Tesco.
Of course, the tyre wouldn't last as long, but that would again be compareable to the GTR.
As for talent - the guy who has the most talent in designing the car so it DOESN'T need 20kg of ballast in the nose, wins the races

Oh my word.
If everyone believeing the

I really like the car and I certainly appreciate all that it is, no question.
Which is why I find it frustrating when all the drivel comes out tinging its name.
Plus, how many people on Piston Heads will now think that having a heavier car means you corner faster?
Car Enthusiasts are a pretty dumb bunch at the best of times - we don't need this going around dumbing us down even further!

Oh yes - I forgot!
How are you finding it? Good/bad points?

Going very fast!
A lot of fun to drive, esp with traction off
You can go very sideways very easily
Quite practical really, boot is big and rear seats are ok for girls.
Well made and solid feeling
Front seats are excellent
Bose sound system reasonable
Putting car into manual and 6th gear and just blasting effortless down the motorway
It feels special every time you get in it to drive
Everyone loves it, people wave, shout nice car, thumbs up etc
Bad points:
Auto mode changes down way to readily
Gearbox can be a bit clunky when setting off from cold
Phone bluetooth is crap
13MPG lol
Can feel a wee bit big at low speed manoeuvring
After you start it, it wont go into drive for a few seconds while the gearbox thinks about things
The air con really has two modes freezing or roasting
Going way way too fast!
