Jamie

What are the basic details of the official Porsche used warranty - in terms of applying it to a used car without warranty, history required, age and mileage restrictions etc

cheers

Car has to be younger than 9 years old and no more than 125,000 miles.

Needs to undergo an 111 point check.

Anything that the OPC doesn't like has to be rectified before warranty is issued.

Think you have to own the car for 90 days before you can buy the warranty, if purchased from a dealer other than OPC.

Can buy in 1 or 2 year forms.

Renewal is slightly cheaper than buying for the first time.

The OPC will not like to find any non Porsche approved parts fitted to the car eg. batteries.

Think car can only be serviced and looked after by an OPC.

Not sure if any of that helps.

What car are you looking at? If from a private seller I would get them to put the warranty on prior to sale and then just transfer it over to you.

Forgot to add that if the car does not have full OPC history the issuing OPC can insist on the big 48000 mile service being completed prior to placing a warranty on the car.

Oh and the warranty and 111 point check will cost about £1000

Breakdown of cost is something like (approximate costs)

Warranty - £650
111 Point Check - £180
Vat - 145

You cannot separate the 111 point check from the warranty.

thanks

I see the check as part of the pre-purchase rigmarole and good value at that (guess there must be some way of paying for it, or something similar, despite your comments about separation)

I tend to put any car I'm considering through a main dealer MOT as part of the same process

You can have the check on its own, but they will do the 111 point check as part of the warranty process regardless is my understanding.
