That's how i'd approach it - or rent one for a day out and pretend you've done your arm / neck / knee in so she has to drive back.

@arsie Those Smart boxes are fine if you lift off the gas just before its about to change gear - we've got the 90bhp turbo one at work and it is s a great little thing to throw about.

Make sure you do your right knee in, not the left one, they're no daft @martin j

I think that must be the 'new' model 2014 on: the W451 is only a single clutch affair. Lift off still helps @unclefester
Yes knocks along, 0-62 in 10.7 seconds for ours though being the cabrio it will be a bit less. Son in law was quite surprised when he borrowed it

How many weeks in and still not happy with the BM brakes

I had the wheels off and went for a bleed where the pipe was above the nipple and the bottle sat on top of the wishbone

No air came out

What I did notice was one side is very loose without pedal so will whip that one off and take a look at the dust boot to ensure its seated ok

Lockdown pitq

Excellent vid @Nottm_S2 not sure if the engine is up front in that steroidal Smart or still in the back. All I can see there is a battery.

edit: perhaps the time has come to lob the BM into the dealer to fix. Why learn the hard way on a car you're going to move on?

Noob admission

I put the retaining clips on wrong, the pedal travel was due to the caliper not sat correctly due to that clip and so taking all the pedal travel before pads met disc.. I reversed both and pedal is now perfect. Twat

Hopefully that is the right way

The caliper sits on sliding pins and it's a loose fit, that clip pulls the caliper body round to square it against the disc

Because I had them off for a long time and didn't ponder that clip I put it on with the tabs outside (from the hub) and it pulled the caliper off square.. tit

As shown here - now you have it the correct way.
