Yep did you see the footage on Exiges.com in the meets section?
Nuts.
Nuts.
Pretty much the same as the Elise I was in yesterday.
His braking was a bit early at Quarry though
I guess this answers my GT3 question somewhat!

Superb. The gap the GT3 pulls on the straghts isn't much more than my Exige way at Spa, so that's not too bad.
But the engine sounds superb!

Erm, that's not a "normal" CSL. I've had a passenger around the ring in it. It's completely stripped, roll cage, seats, cams, remapped, new suspension, PS Cups. Steve's reasonably handy behind the wheel too.
Biggest problem with every M3 including the CSL are the brakes.
Ive driven several CSls and owned a M3 Manual and the brakes are total pants so if you do buy one make sure you have a little pot aside for an upgrade.
Then it will be immense.. i bloody love the things

Seems to be a common view on the brakes.
This is a nice lap of the Ring. Not hugely quick but you get an idea of the car's ability.

What is it with BMW and crap brakes?
Our 335d has brakes that are too small for it.
I am still shocked that my 135i is the only BMW with 6 piston brakes??
Back OT, the CSL is amazing... think it is probably my favourite BMW of all time (that and the E30 M3). Not been lucky enough to get in one, but I used to see one most mornings coming to work, and ohhhh the noise from that intake bouncing off the sides of the buildings was awesome.
The perfect track car IMO.

and where
some people criticise my M5's brakes - on track
the car was built for the road
it's the only place I drive it
the brakes are fine (more than actually)
substitute s2000 for M5 in my experience - same result
criticism is probably more justified in the case of the CSL, simply because it's obvious most of the cars would see plenty of track use
but I haven't driven a modern car whose brakes were inadequate for normal road use
