Default M6

Drove (and subsequently bought on behalf of father in law) an M6 today.

Having come from a trackday in a new XFR (510bhp) recently, I was expecting much of the same in terms of pace. WOW... how wrong was I. The M6 seemed significantly faster than the Jag and was pretty mind blowing to be honest. Perhaps the 400kg weight saving has something to do with it.

Is there a better value rocket ship out there? at 85k new, we just picked up a 2005 with 40k on the clock for around a quarter of that, fully loaded, so expect was nearer £100k new.

It really was THAT fast and I was gobsmacked. Sounded awesome too. That said, is it for me? no. It was just TOO fast and that may sound odd, but to live with everyday, ones license would be at risk. Put it this way, when I need to overtake at say 40 in a 60mph, down a few cogs, 2nd, third... comfortably past in a few seconds.. in those same few seconds I reckon this thing would be way beyond 100mph, prob nearer 150!

Genuinely impressed and value for money to me, looks pretty unbeatable.

Love the head-up display with Power and M buttons pressed! very 'Top Gun'.

I've driven a couple

I want to like them because I like the V10 but they are too golf club for me

plus 15mpg if you are lucky

if I ever take up golf, the club is a mile up the road and I want to get there and back quickly then I will reconsider

hope he got a warranty because he'll need it

I was hoping for an in-depth look at one of Britains premier trunk roads

Think i'd take the M5. Never keen on the M6 looks, or what the point of it was.

Rather have an m5 or m5 touring myself even though I dint need the practicality.
The weird slab on the boot puts me right off the 6 series!

I've really gone off the V10 M cars of late, I used to really like the M5 but now I think it looks like a dogs dinner. The M-Sport cooking versions look better IMO.

That said, I could probably get over it for the engine, but not when I'm doing 20k a year.

M3 all the way.
