M3 all the way.
M-Sport is just a bit sad. Either the dog's bollocks, or get off the pot & get a 320d.

The new six is no longer meltily ugly enough to make salvador Dali retch, which is nice.

I was in the 'less is more' camp with the old 8ers; I thought the 840 was a really nice little car for grand touring & roundabouts.

But for the money, something as totally daft as the V10 is very tempting. Even if it is far too fast & big for the UK; sometimes it's because it is!

Simply don't see the point of those big engined saloons...about anything can do a 110 nowadays..

Then why did you get an S2000 and not an MX-5?

The mrs and I are quietly saving for a Gallardo. If we decide it's too much like hard work, an M6 would make a good fallback option...but it's not a Lambo...

An S2000 is a Honda.
You're comparing a saloon with a sports car which i find rather silly. Choosing between a Gallardo and a M6..ROFL

There's very few things more pointless than a road going sports car and some saloons are better sports cars than some sports cars.

It's all about usage.

Not a regular poster on here but have lurked around for years...

It's funny this topic has popped up today as hopefully (fingers crossed), I have just sold my M5. As Gaddafi says, prices are tumbling fast and I have just accepted £18.5k for a 2006 (55) car - I paid £30k just 18 months or so ago; it's a buyers market out there now and to be honest, just getting an offer is hard work!

Mine is/was immaculate, 53k miles, fully loaded, FBMWSH, rolling warranty, blah blah blah... they are like rocket ships though, almost far too fast for UK roads as a whole, maybe the performance bargain of the year, and they are very comfortable too. They may not be to everyone's eye but you cannot deny 507bhp in almost Q car form!

Warranty is ESSENTIAL and only the BMW one, I pay £69pm and have made claims in excess of £5k, you need deep pockets without one. Fuel economy is horrendous (mine is averaging sub 15) but running costs are pretty reasonable given what it can do.

Would I recommend one... in a heartbeat (if just for the noise of that V10 alone).

That's my two pennies worth.

Cheers

Goodnight.

Nick, clutch and flywheel, a known fault with these cars, £3.5k! Not quite Ferrari money but must be knocking on the door...

TBF, it must be quite a clutch and subject to a lot of (potential) abuse.

But then I know M-car running costs CAN be eye-watering anyway, which is why a car costing so much new is suddenly free with every expensive warranty you take out.

Swings and roundabouts...
