No luggage space is exactly why I bought my missus one. She couldn't even fit a shoe box in the cubby holes. Mind you with online shopping now you don't need luggage space.
You suited that car down to the ground Martin

My view on the Mk3 Mr2 - handle well, reliable but under powered.

Cheers

Ollie
Compared to what? And why would anyone want a more powerful girly car? Which is what they are, despite being nice enough to drive.

138hp in something that weighs about as much as fag paper is quite sufficient for most of us. We have had 2, both facelift, and when I drove them I was always aware of my feminist side
Of course it is faaaar too underpowered for the driving gods among us.

We probably agree - that's why I asked what Sky was comparing it too. The MR2 has enough power, so does a Micra CC, MX5 and Focus RS. The only thing is, only one of the aforementioned isn't a girly car - it's a pikey car.

Quite simply I'm of the opinion that Toyota should have installed the VVTLI (2ZZ) 189 BHP engine. I'm not necessarily comparing it to anything, it is just my opinion ( and of most of the MR2 community member's that I am a personal member of) that the standard engine isn't enough to make the car appeal to a car enthusiast.

I'll stick with my AW11 (Mk1) Mr2's anyway, the Mk3 does nothing for me.

Cheers

I'm no stig, but I know my Toyotas and MR2s especially. I'd have a Mk1, then a Mk3 then a Mk2 (in that order). Toyota got it right with the Mk1, the Mk2 was too fat, the Mk3 was nearly right but (in my opinion) under powered and needed more storage space.

Cheers

Gotta say I do still miss mine even if it spent 99% of the time off the road. Oh, your number plate looks to have just fallen off.

Risky business that would have been if they dropped the more powerful 1.8 lumps in there. Cutting their 'lotus' off to spite their face perhaps?

True dat.

Also, bit like the 86, Mrs W30 was designed as a 'tuner' car and Toyota thought they'd be selling BIWs and different powertrains to boutique companies like Mitsuoka to build specials out of. Legitimised W20 Ferrari kits, if you will.

But for some reason, the car completely failed to spark the imagination.
