I agree with Polemecist; the NSX-R is a formidable track machine, but really is the ruination of that which is supposed to be a luxury GT car, not some sort of hooligan boy-racer special.

That's one reason the NSX was an Acura, whilst the S2000 was a Honda.

No; it was widely misunderstood, as most Hondas are.

The idea was that it was capable of doing all those things; commuting, shopping touring, nice [well, Bose] stereo, not frying you, not crippling you, not trying to kill you at the first corner.

That's why it was soooo much better than the other cars at the time, yet was not as 'involving' - with the RAC, as well as the track!

Things like the 986/997 up to the Evora have copied the NSX's style, so it seems less remarkable today.

But remember that although even the 911 was the most practical before the NSX, it was pretty bloody awful as an everyday GT car.

I still think a good condition manual non targa will fetch good money. I look on Pistonheads maybe once a fortnight, and occasionally on the owners forum but it's rare to see a nice one pop up.

The NA2 ones seems to fetch well over 30k in the right condition.

I'd be more tempted by an older manual version and mod it for a useable track day car which you could drive there and back in too.
